The Berlin-Syrian Dialogues: Voices from the Diaspora
Berlin is no longer just a temporary transit point; it has evolved into the most dynamic and influential hub for the Syrian diaspora worldwide.
As our community transitions from a phase of “emergency management” to becoming an authentic, sustainable part of this city’s fabric, there is an urgent need to move beyond superficiality. We must fill the void in serious, rigorous discussions about our identity and our future.
In response to this need, the Syrian Youth Assembly – SYA and Dein Almanya, in partnership with Bard College Berlin, A Liberal Arts University, are proud to launch a new series of high-level dialogues and discussions in Berlin.
Designed as an intellectual laboratory, this program bridges the gap between the lived experiences of the diaspora and rigorous academic and political analysis. Our mission is to:
Reclaim Agency: Empower the Syrian community to redefine its role—moving from being a “recipient” of policy or a “subject” of study to becoming a “political actor” and a partner in decision-making in both Germany and Syria.
Create a Safe Space: Provide a fertile environment to ask difficult questions about identity, citizenship, and justice, free from political polarization.
We invite Syrians, students, academics, and public figures to join this roundtable. Your voice is needed not just to participate, but to contribute to shaping a new narrative.
When: Bi-weekly on Thursdays at 7:00 PM.
Where: Bard College Berlin Campus.
Language: Discussions will be bilingual (Arabic & English) to ensure depth and inclusivity.
